Hello dear Engravity Support,
Can you edit the headline post to

Thanks

|
|
Firstly, thanks for this thread.
It helped me clear up some wiring related questions.
I got the RECALL switch figured out.
I also got the common cathode wired to an FDS card. I was able to test the FUEL, IRS, ELEC on one side and DOORS, HYD, ENG on the other.
But the other 3 on both sides dont light up. Initially i thought it may be a bad ribbon cable. But the problem persists even with another cable.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks,

are the outputs of the fds sys card and the common all in the same group ? _________________ www.flyengravity.com

Yes. Same group.
I even tried connecting each of the six annunciators terminals to the same output on the FDS card. Since 3 of them work on that FDS card output, my thinking was that the other three must atleast work on that same output. This is while keeping the red cathode ribbon cable lead connected to the same black lead on the FDS group.
But they don't work even in that test.

I tried rewiring a brand new set of connectors to the FDS SYS3 card.
Even then I can only get 3 of them to work.
I must be doing something wrong. I have tried for 3 days now and am out of ideas... :-(
I have a Phidgets LED64 card but I cant use it because it is a common anode card.
Is there anything else I could be trying.

Another answer that will help is whether the six annunciators can be tested individually.
once having connected the common cathode lead to the card, i was able to test Doors, Hyd and Eng individually. But the other 3 wont light up.
Does the circuitry inside require that they all be wired before any one can light up? It does not appear like that to me because 3 do light up individually. Just confirming. |

After much time spent, I have found out that the dual led annunciations such FLT CONT, ANTI ICE etc are the ones that don't light up.
Upon more testing, I find in 'test all leds' mode in FDS interfaceIT software, they wont light up.
I connected it to Prosim737 and when I turn all LEDs by using the LIGHTS TEST, only 3 single LED annunciators light up.
However then I turned off all power in the cockpit - Battery Switch off, APU off, GRD PWR off - essentially all Annunciators are OFFin the cockpit.
I assigned the six pack annunciators to six other individual annunciators such as the landing gear annunciations. Then when i test each of them individually by clicking on them, each of the six light up - including the dual led ones.
I think the card does not have enough power to light up the six pack.
What is surprising is that currently, that same output section on the card powers up all six dual led landing gear annunciators and the dual led flaps ext and flaps transit annunciators - and with a ton of brightness.
if it can do that why not the six pack is the question?
your help is much appreciated.
regards,

the dual led annunciators in the sixpack are wired in series.
The dual led annunciators of your landing gear, etc will probably be wired in parallel.
It sounds indeed as if the sys board does not have enough power to light up the leds in series. _________________ www.flyengravity.com

Yes. You are correct. The other annunciators are wired in parallel.
Okay, with that conclusion - The next question becomes -
what card should i get to handle the Master/Caution, Fire Warning, and Six packs.
The options are -
a CPflight board since I already have the MCP 737?
or a Pokeys board?
The phidgets board will not work because of the common anode design.
I already have everything else taken care off in the sim. All LEDs and Switches are handled. So i need a small board with just enough outputs to take care of the glareshield.
Your recomendations/suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks! |

the cpflight mip board will handle the dual leds in normal operations, however when ALL leds are lit (for example in a lights test) the dual leds can be somewhat dimmer.
In normal conditions, no problem.
I like the pokeys for their ease of use, however i do not know their power output. _________________ www.flyengravity.com
