Good Afternoon,

I bought the performance line MIP quite a while ago. I am now in the position to actually work on the backlighting. Does FlyEngravity offer a good solution to this? If so, what would you sugest.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

The older performance line kits should have cutouts in the backpanels to enably adding a lightsource for backlighting. Basically you can use anything for that: leds, ledstrips, el sheets, etc.

Alternatively you could upgrade your panels with our new EPB panels which are internally backlit (12V). Depending on the version of your backpanels you might need to make a small modification to your backpanel to accomodate the connector/solder point of the new EPB panels.

What price range would I be looking at for that panel upgrade, including the controller?

the upgrade kit costs 235 euro's and can be found in the shop:

http://www.flyengravity.com/page/shop/5

just scroll down.

We dont sell the controller seperately anymore, but you can find cheap led dimmers on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/LED-Dimmer-Adjustable-Brightness-Controller-DC-12V-8A-N_W0QQitemZ220484278521QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3355e318f9

10$ including shipping worldwide for a 8A, 12 V led dimmer.

Our panels are 12 V so you can use this dimmer. You would be needing 2 for the mip panels (to control captains and first officers panels seperately)

I know these units and when you take them out of the plastic case you have a pcb with a seperate pot that you could use. Perfect and cheap solution.

Yes,
We are currently working on a ICS (Plug & Play overhead) and we are thinking of making the panels seperately available also.

Hallo Stef,

I just bought the EPB panels. Unfortunately no connecting plugs or wires were supplied in the box. Is this supposed to be and if so, what type of connector will fit?

Best regards,

There are 2 versions of the backlit panels. The regular upgrade kit. This one has 2 solder pads on the pcb on the back. You can solder the wire directly to the 2 solder pads. + and - are marked on the back of the panel.

This save you the need to invest in expensive crimping tools or connectors.

The other version is the ics version. These have a rm 2.54 connector that plugs directly onto the ICS pcb.

Hallo Stef,

I must have gotten the ICS version. Can I just solder a wire in the hole?

Pim, is there a chance that you got your panels from a retailer ? Maybe Gert at LHshop ?

Maybe they made a mistake there (which left them with a incomplete ICS set).

Cant find a reference in our customer database of having you supplied a lightplate set.

Anyway, will send you a set of crimped connectors + wire monday.

Hi Pim,

I put them on the mail wednesday evening (privately, not via FLYengravity).

This means aviation megastore accidentaly supplied you with a set of ICS panels instead of the regular backlit panels.
